What is Lost Wax Casting?

The traditional technique called ‘lost wax casting’ is an ancient method that dates back over 6,000 years and is still used today. It involves creating a wax model (this is the part you will be doing in the workshop), then a plaster mould is formed around it and the wax is melted out, leaving behind an empty cavity in the shape of the design. Molten metal is then poured into the mould, solidifies and creates an exact replica of the original design.
